MISP², the Medical Imaging Symposium, is an annual symposium for Netherlands-based PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in medical imaging. The event serves as a platform for networking and sharing your research, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in the medical imaging field. It also gives an opportunity to young researchers to share their work and practice presentation skills. You are welcome to present any work, whether it's new or something you've previously done, published, or presented. Our primary aim is to foster collaborations inside the Netherlands.

Organization

MISP² 2027 is hosted by Amsterdam UMC, at the Science Park 904!

Five people, one event, and plenty of work behind the scenes. Get to know the team bringing this year’s edition to life! 👋

🧠 Research: Using AI and quantitative MRI to better understand tumors and support more personalized cancer treatment.

☕ Outside the lab: A book lover who is always happy to go for a coffee.

Laura Angeja

Laura Angeja

PhD Candidate · Biomedical Engineering & Physics and Neurology Departments,Amsterdam UMC

🧠 Research: Exploring how the structure of the heart and blood flow may help explain why some patients experience a stroke.

💃 Outside the lab: Born and raised in Coimbra, Portugal, Laura swapped her student city for Amsterdam to pursue her PhD. After 16 years of ballet, she discovered other styles of dance, including jazz, modern, and contemporary.

Wiktor Olszewski

Wiktor Olszewski

PhD Candidate · Biomedical Engineering & Physics and Radiology & Nuclear Medicine Departments, Amsterdam UMC

🧠 Research: Stroke imaging - studying how brain lesions evolve after a stroke and how this relates to recovery and treatment outcomes.

🤺 Outside the lab: Originally from Poland, Wiktor has studied in Denmark and the UK. After 12 years as a competitive fencer, he now takes on new challenges in CrossFit and triathlon.

Federica Lupo

Federica Lupo

PhD Candidate · Biomedical Engineering & Physics Department, Amsterdam UMC

🧠 Research: Brain age estimation from multiparametric k-space data.

🌍 Outside the lab: After a few moves around Europe and beyond, she enjoys stepping out of her comfort zone, exploring new places, and taking on the occasional side quest.
